Are you aware of the new battle in the Opioid war? If not, then you need to be so you can make sure your family and kids are aware as well. This new-found drug looks like a chunk of concrete. Yet it can kill with one dose, and it’s also got an ominous name — Gray Death. Of course, it’s the latest killer drug cocktail making headlines in the ongoing war against the national opioid crisis. The substance is made from a mixture of potent opioids and resembles concrete in appearance. The consistency of the drug varies from hard, chunky material to a fine, delicate powder.
The drug originally was concentrated on the Gulf Coast and states like Georgia and Ohio. “We are monitoring the potential spread of this deadly combination of drugs,” Russ Baer of the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency told NBC News. “We’ve not yet seen a national proliferation of the ‘gray death’ substance,” the DEA spokesman wrote. That’s good to know for parents outside of those areas, but as we know with most drugs, they have a way to find themselves in our town eventually.
This scary new drug on the streets can literally kill you with just one dose. Gray Death is just as scary as it sounds and packs a deadly punch. Gray Death is a new heroin cocktail named for its color and its potency; it has a variety of highly potent synthetic opioids all-in-one. With the drug being so powerful authorities are not sure why anyone would take it once, let alone take it a second time. Some say that some users want to see how close they can come to death.
Why It’s So Deadly
The mixture of highly potent opioids, usually heroin, fentanyl, carfentanyl & an elephant tranquilizer that is 20-times more potent than fentanyl, and 1,000-times more so than morphine. A lethal dose of carfentanyl is about 20 micrograms. This means the one ounce is enough to kill 70 million people. How could it not be killing people? It is so potent that touching it can be fatal.
Although we don’t know the number of verifiable cases of overdose deaths from Gray Death, the number is certainly getting higher by the day.
“Gray Death is one of the scariest combinations that I have ever seen in nearly 20 years of forensic chemistry drug analysis,” according to Deneen Kilcrease, manager of the chemistry section at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
